Hi, I am Blake! I started Disability Social Connections in early January 2021 in high school. The initial purpose was to provide disability support work to my godmother’s daughter, whom I got along with well beforehand, on the weekends around my weekday studies. A few months after taking her to birthday parties, I saw the complete joy of her and all her peers at these birthday parties that happened occasionally each year. I thought I would try to offer youth with disabilities the opportunity to hang out every weekend in a social group. After I conducted my first social group for youth with disabilities, I realised that my thesis was correct; the energy in the social groups was equal to, if not greater than, the energy at the birthday parties. That is what formed the Disability Social Connections (Now Bevimble!) weekend social group!

Hi, I am Vismi! I am a 21-year-old university student studying to become a doctor in the future. I stared working in the disability sector about a year ago after meeting Blake. My journey in this field first started when I helped Blake plan a Christmas event. Watching the impact he had on the kids at the event was very inspiring and motivated me to take part in disability work. Since then, I have attended many social groups and I have had a great time making fun memories and long-lasting connections with our clients. My main goal during these social activities is making sure that each child is happy and comfortable.
